This week has been one of those weeks for me, when it seems like I just can not get moving. Sometimes I allow my thought process to go in the wrong direction, giving into self defeating thoughts of self-doubt and thoughts of failure.
You mean to tell me, Dee Foster has those kind of thoughts and sometimes struggle with thoughts of giving up on her dreams?
Yes, I'm here to tell you that yes I have those thoughts at times. Yes, sometimes I think about giving up when it just seems like success is not coming fast enough or that my goal of working for my self fulltime just seems so far out of reach. Sometimes, it just does not seem like it's worth it. Yes, those thoughts creep in from time to time and not only do they creep in, they try to put up full time residence in my mind.
If you have never felt like giving up on anything, then you may not have talked to the mirror lately, because the mirror never lies.
But even in all that, what gives me hope and help me to come out of that funk is the fact that I know who I am even when I don't feel like that person. I know that I am special and that God created me for greatness. I was born to be successful and to reach every goal that I set out achieve. I know that I was created by God for a purpose and that purpose is to serve other women by helping them to realize their true potential and to reach for the stars.
I have a foundation that is always my True North and that compass is God's word that I hide in my heart. When I am tempted to give up on the dreams that God has placed in my heart, His word reminds me of who I am and most importantly, who He is.
These are some scriptures I love to meditate on when I get discouraged in my entrepreneurial pursuits. They keep me grounded, they encourage and inspire me. I hope that you will also find inspiration in these scriptures
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer. 29:11
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Phil. 3:13-14
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...Heb. 12:1-2
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Phil. 4:8
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Gal. 6:9
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ 2 Cor. 10:5
These are just a few scriptures that help me to get my thoughts back on track with success and achieving my goals. I hope that you take the time to research these further and also discover other scriptures that you can chose as your personal meditation.
God is so concerned with every area of our lives. I think about that often. Every area of our lives should glorify him. Including our business, the products and the services that we provide to others. He wants us to be successful. But we must also remember to commit our plans to him.
I am an avid student of personal development and I believe in positive thinking for sure. However, that is not enough to keep the negative thoughts away. We must think and meditate on the Word of God as the foundation for our positive thinking. Positive thinking without that, is shallow at best and will not sustain you when the storm of negative thoughts rush in like a flood to sway you from your goals and dreams. That is why it's so important to have a personal relationship with God and put Him first in everything.
I encourage you as I encourage myself to keep your eyes on the prize and don't stop until you reach the top.
