My Top 10 Favorite Female Entrepreneur Quotes of All Time

Throughout history, there have been countless female entrepreneurs who took a chance and turned their dreams of launching a successful business into reality.  Some of these women became famous, rich and successful, some have just become successful, and others failed miserably.

What I would like to do today is share my top 10 female entrepreneur quotes of all time and also provide my take on each quote.  Putting this list together was a tough challenge because there are so many good quotes to choose from.  I hope you enjoy reading this list as I much as I did researching and writing it.

# 10 “A leader's most important decisions are about people.  Who do you put in which jobs?  How long do you leave them in a job?”~ Carly Fiorina

My Take: As entrepreneurs we are in the people business.  Never forget that.  Your "people" are your greatest asset and greatest liability.  Your job is to manage and lead those people to the best of your ability.

# 9 “I succeeded by saying what everyone else was thinking.” ~ Joan Rivers

My Take: Don't be scared to speak your mind.  When you do this you will have some critics, but you will also have people who agree with you and support you for voicing your opinion.   The bottom line is don’t be scared about what others think about you.

# 8 “Surround yourself only with people who are going to lift you higher.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

My Take: Avoid the haters and naysayers like they are a bad disease.  If someone is constantly bringing you down, get them out of your life as quickly as possible.   Instead, surround yourself with people who encourage you, who help you and who uplift you.

# 7 “There's no luck in business. There's only drive, determination, and more drive.” ~ Sophie Kinsella

My Take: The harder I work the luckier I get!  To succeed as an entrepreneur you will need to work twice as hard and twice as long as you did when you were an employee.  If you aren’t willing to do that you probably shouldn’t have your own business to begin with.

# 6 “Simple, genuine goodness is the best capital to found the business of this life upon. It lasts when fame and money fail, and is the only riches we can take out of this world with us.” ~ Louisa May Alcott

My Take: Your character is all you really have.  Treat others nice.  Be kind to people.  The only thing you will remember on your deathbed is the memories you had, the people you loved, and the things you did.

# 5 “Success is often achieved by those who don't know that failure is inevitable.” ~ Coco Chanel

My Take: Whatever you think will happen, will happen.  If you think you will succeed, you will.  And if you think you will fail, you will. Get your thinking right if you want to achieve success in life and in business. You really have to put your blinders on and focus on your goals and pretend you have no other options.  Get rid of your back up plan.  If you are really determined, you won't need one.

# 4 “I've never felt like I was in the cookie business.  I've always been in the feel good feeling business.  My job is to sell joy.  My job is to sell happiness.  My job is to sell an experience.”  ~ Debbi Fields

My Take: Know the benefit of what you sell.  People don't buy a drill because they want a drill.  They buy the drill because they want a hole. Take note of that.

# 3 “Most people live and die with their music still un-played.  They never dare to try.” Mary Kay Ash

My Take: Don't be scared to take risks and step out of your comfort zone.  It's better to attempt something great and fail than attempt to do nothing and succeed.  Nothing lost, nothing gained.

# 2 “If you want a CEO role, you have to prepare for it with a vengeance.” ~ Denise Morrison

My Take: Preparation is the key to success in business.  Being a successful CEO and/or entrepreneur requires a highly developed mind-set and skill-set. For most folks, this takes YEARS to develop.

# 1 “Dear, never forget one little point.  It's my business.  You just work here.” ~ Elizabeth Arden

My Take: Don't let your employees boss you around or run your business.  It's your business.  Never tolerate insubordination.
